Thanks to NCTM, ASSM has its mail list on the Internet. (It soon will have others for use by the Board and committees.) For those of you not familiar with a mail list, it provides one-stop-shopping when you want to reach every other member of the list. Over 145 members of ASSM are now members of the mail list. Hence, every time someone sends a messsage to the list, all of those 145+ persons gets a copy. Should you want to send a message to everyone on the list, simply address the message to:

ASSM@LIST.NCTM.ORG

and the list will forward the message to all subscribers.

  • Only ASSM members (and invited guests) will have access to the list. The ASSM Internet Task Force and the ASSM Board agreed that list membership should be limited in order to make it useful to ASSM.

  • Some ASSM members are not yet on the list because we don't have their email addresses. Hence, a note sent to the list will not reach all ASSM members.

  • Although email addresses are gathered in each membership survey (and subsequently published), you may know someone who wants to join the list. If so, have that person send a request to Bill Geppert at: geppwj@aol.com or call 302-226-3699. Bill is the list's manager.

  • If your email program has a personal address book feature, you'll want to make an entry for the list. In fact, the list can be treated just like an individual. In this case, you could use ASSM as the name and enter the address: ASSM@LIST.NCTM.ORG

  • If you change or have your e-mail address changed, be sure to let Bill know. The list can be revised to continually update new members and add or delete members.

  • The ASSM membership list sent each year to ASSM members has each member's e-mail address listed. If you want a current list of ASSM members with e-mail addresses, contact Bill.

  • Remember that any message sent to the list will be read by everyone on it. Be careful what you say/write! If you want to send a private message to a member of the list, you'll need to use that person's individual email address.
